Solar PV installation video – St Mary's Church
BritishEco installed a solar PV (photovoltaic) system on St Mary's Church in Henley. The project consisted of 38 panels on the 150 year old church roof.
The solar panel system is expected to generate about 9.5kW of electricity which will be used in the church. Any excess electricity generated will be offset back to the national grid.
It had originally been planned to install solar panels on the church roof over 10 years ago but they thought it wasn't a viable option due to the cost of the solar panels and the Feed-In Tariff incentive was not yet available in the UK.
Father Martyn Griffiths spoke to the Henley Standard of the installation, "Recently, with the decrease in the costs of the panels and the Feed-In Tariff that the Government are offering at the moment, it became a much more viable option".
