Why to go Solar?
Save £££ on Energy Bills! Solar energy is for free!
-An Apricus solar collector can reduce the amount of electricity or gaz used for water heating by 70% per annum, therefore considerably reducing your monthly energy bills!
-Reduce CO2 Emissions :the average household can reduce CO2 emissions by more than 2000Kg each year by installing a 30 tube Apricus Solar Collector.
Why choose Solar Thermal?
PV and Thermal can work side by side, however in terms of £/Watt, Solar Thermal is only about 20-25% the cost of PV, due mainly to the fact that the performance is so much higher. While PV panels average around 13-15%, Apricus solar Collectors can readily convert >70% of UV & daylight into useable heat.
PV and Thermal? What is the difference?
Solar PV (photo-voltaic) panels convert sunlight into electricity, which is stored in batteries. Solar Thermal converts sunlight into heat, which is used to produce hot water. Given that the average household use around 15kWh/day just to provide hot water, using Solar thermal greatly reduce total household electricity usage.
Isn`t it too cold and wet in the UK for solar to work properly?
No, because vacuum tube solar collectors work even if it's freezing cold, all they need is sunlight and we get enough of that, even on a cloudy day.
Are solar heating systems too expensive?
No they don't have to be expensive. Although you could pay over £7000, you can actually have just as good a system installed for between £2500 - £4500.
How much will I save on my utility bills?
You could expect to save between 50% and 70% of your annual water heating costs. The more hot water you use the greater the saving.
Do I need to change my cylinder?
No. Depending on the system you choose to suit your needs the best, we can fit the solar panels directly to your existing cylinder, vented or unvented. This is subject to a telephone or home visit survey.
How do I know what system is best for me?
We offer impartial advice and provide telephone eco surveys or free home visit surveys so that we can determine the best system for you. We are a national company and we would be happy to install your new system anywhere in the UK and Ireland.
Is my solar system covered by a full warranty?
Yes. Our solar hot water system has a full 1-year warranty on parts and labour. The tubes in the solar collector or the flat panels on your roof also have a 15 to 20 year parts warranty from BritishEco Energy.
Who should I call if I need more information or advice once my system is installed?
All aspects of the system’s operation will be explained to you prior to leaving site. We will also leave a copy of our system manual with you. Additionally, we offer free life-time advice on the operation and maintenance of your system.
I am eligible for a grant? If yes, how much is this one?
The Government is offering a £400 domestic grant towards installing a new solar thermal system. All of our systems comply with the Government’s criteria. However, you will need a letter from your council confirming you DO NOT need planning permission, before you can apply for the grant. Your home will also need to meet specific energy efficiency criteria (based on loft and cavity insulation, energy saving light bulbs, and thermostats for each room). You can find more information on the DTI’s website:
www.lowcarbonbuildings.org.uk
We are happy to help with your grant application wherever possible.
What happens if I have a problem with the system after your engineers have left?
Simply call us and we will fix your problem as a matter of priority. After all, we want your system working to its full potential as our reputation is our future.
When the installation is complete will you leave my property as you found it?
Definitely. Our installation engineers will treat your property with respect and will leave it clean and tidy.
Can I use Solar Thermal to heat my swimming pool?
Not only can a solar hot water system be used for domestic water heating, it can also be used for larger scale applications, including swimming pools.
Are you insured against loss or damage to my property?
Yes. In the unlikely event of damage, we have £1,000,000 public liability insurance, as recommended by the Solar Trade Association.
